A blog post of general goodness.
I did my first M11 draft IRL last night, at the fantastic Inner Sanctum Collectibles in Cambridge, and I owned it. Pretty solid red/green beatstick kind of deck with Obstinate Baloth, Fireball, Protean Hydra, and just solid cards. Beat blue/white skies twice and mono-black discard (lived the dream with Baloth, too) and ended up first, walking away with Fauna Shaman, a Rootbound Crag and a Leyline of the Void. Did some trading and finally got my fourth Force of Will as well as some Chalice of the Void. It’s getting close to the legacy tournament for which I have been preparing now, need more testing!
In other gaming news, I will be taking over as DM for whatever form our D&D group takes after Barrett runs his final one-shot adventure (which may be this weekend, or may be never). I’ve got some exceedingly spicy ideas haha.
This was originally something on Facebook to which I was ‘tagged.’ Quite interesting, leave them in the comments if you like. The rules: Don’t take too long to think about it. Fifteen albums you’ve heard that will always stick with you. List the first fifteen you can recall in no more than fifteen minutes (some other stuff about tagging more people cut from here…)
1. Aphex Twin -Drukqs
2. Anaal Nathrakh – Eschaton
3. Sunn O))) – Black One
4. Radiohead – Kid A
5. Jeff Buckley – Grace
6. Converge – Jane Doe
7. Thrice – The Illusion of Safety
8. GlassJaw – Worship and Tribute
9. Pelican – Pelican
10. Khanate – Things Viral
11. Jesu – Jesu
12. Merzbow – Minazo
13. Earth – Hex: Or Printing in the Infernal Method
14. Dead Kennedys – Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables
15. Agoraphobic Nosebleed – PCP Torpedo
And I still left out Napalm Death, Discharge, old stuff that still sticks with me like Ride the Lightning by Metallica. Man, this was really hard, I genuinely am interested to see the choices of other people. Hello Nasty by the Beastie Boys! Damn.
