Something That Makes You Cry
I am a man! Men do not cry! Nor do they lacrimate, as is the official term. Or, I think it is acceptable to let some water escape from one’s eyes, in a fashion that may be interpretted as shedding tears, only at a funeral / when you’ve just lost the World Cup final. Apparently crying can be defined as, ‘a complex secretomotor phenomenon characterized by the shedding of tears from the lacrimal apparatus, without any irritation of the ocular structures.’ So there.
According to some (possibly dodgy) facts and figures:
- The average man cries once a month (really?)
- For women it is about six times a month (I can believe it)
- Women tend to cry for longer than men
- Women are more likely to end up sobbing than men
- Chuck Norris uses a stunt double for crying
- Also, Chuck Norris makes onions cry, not vice versa
In what will no doubt come to haunt me, I cried when I watched ET for the first time (under nine years old, still fine) and once got a little dewy-eyed when I watched the Pursuit of Happyness… sometime in the last couple of years >.<
Never again.
Therein lies a story...
